Hey There beautiful!
Perfumes are the few pleasures in life that I love to indulge in. They are a reminder of that moment in life when your used to wear the fragrance and transports you to those memories.
I still remember my first perfume, and when I wear the same fragrance, it reminds me of my childhood. A certain fragrance reminds me of my trip to India, and more recently, every time I spritz on my latest perfume, it takes me back to my wedding day. We all have moments in our lives that we want to revisit, and these little bottles of magic do exactly that for me.
So I have decides to pen down my TOP 5 choices for perfume. I often get a lot of compliments about what fragrances I am wearing, so I thought I would share it with you.
Now before you buy perfume, you must know the difference between EAU DE PARFUM and EAU DE TOILETTE
EAU DE PARFUM has a higher concentrate of fragrance and oils than Eau de Toilette. This means it smell stronger and the fragrance stays for longer. These perfumes are often more expensive when compared to Eau de Toilette.
EAU DE TOILETTE on the other hand has a lower concentrate of fragrance and oils and more alcohol. This means that the fragrance will evaporate faster and you will need to re-apply regularly.
So in no apparent order, here goes:
1.) Tiffany & Co
This perfume was launched in 2017 with a big hype by jewelry brand – Tiffany & Co. The packaging is amazing! They boxed it like you would open a jewel. And even the bottle is no less than a jewel in itself. Having said that, it is on the pricey side of the scale. 50 mL will run you about $165.
The top notes for the perfume are Mandarin Orange, Bergamot and lemon. The middle notes are iris, blackcurrant, peach and rose and the base notes are patchouli and musk. This perfume has a fresh, yet feminine smell. Very little smell of spice that burns your nostrils sometimes. This fragrance is light but stays all day.
I bought this perfume for my wedding day and every time i spray it, it reminds of those beautiful memories. I’m far from making it my signature scent because of the price tag of course. It more like a special occasion perfume for me.
Narsico by Narsico Rodriquez is the unheard of wonder. This perfume was released in 2003 and is a branch off for American designer brand Narsico Rodriguez who manly does fashion apparel.
I honestly did not know anything about this perfume, until it was gifted to be by my sister-in-law. It has a really musky and woody smell that I mistook it for a men’s fragrance. However, once I did apply it, I got so many compliments in that one day, I was really surprised! It is very strong and lasts all day, even after a shower!
If you are someone who loves your floral and feminine scents, this perfume may not be for you. But if you are someone who likes to experiment and want to leave people guessing, than get yourself a Narsico. Now this perfume is also on the expensive side of the scale. You can get your hands on a 50mLs bottle for over $200. Again this is a going out perfume for me . I wouldn’t wear it daily.
3.) Tommy Girl
Tommy Girl is a women’s fragrance from the Tommy Hilfiger range. It was release in 1996 by apparel company – Tommy Hilfiger. It comes in a pyramid shape minimal looking bottle. The perfume has a very fresh, floral and fruity scent. Something that will keep you feeling like you stepped out of the shower all day.
I think Tommy Girl is a “young” perfume and keeps me feeling current It also reminds me of my Uni days, as this would be my perfume of choice around that time.
Too much musk and woodiness ages a perfume, and makes me think its the go to scent for older women. Top notes for this perfume are Blackcurrant, camellia, mandarin Orange and apple tree blossom. Middle notes are honeysuckle, lily, violet, mint, grapefruit, lemon and rose. Base notes are magnolia, leather, sandalwood, jasmine and cedar.
The scent seems to last rather long, seeing that its is a EDT rather than EDP. Being EDT makes this scent more affordable I feel. A 100mLs bottle will cost you about $75. This is easily my go to fragrance for daily casual outings.
4.) Flower By Kenzo
My all time favorite, I discovered this scent when a workmate recommended it to me years ago. At the time I couldn’t afford it because it is quite pricey. A 100mL bottle will run you $200 plus. I did manage to pick it up at a sale and have never looked back! It is always on my vanity and I make sure to replace it as soon as it runs out. You wouldn’t believe the compliments I get, even when I’m traveling overseas, people asking me what fragrance I am wearing.
I like to wear this scent for work and meetings. It make me feel very strong and confident and ready to seize the day. Its pretty much lasts me all day without having to re-apply. Good news- it is a EDP, and should be for that price! They do have a EDT version so be careful to buy the right one.
Flower by Kenzo was released 2000 by Luxury fashion house – Kenzo. This perfume is so good, it has won the Fifi Awards in 2001 and 2003. Kenzo does a whole range of perfume, but nothing compares to Flower by Kenzo. You can recognize it for its long thin bottle with a poppy flower and stem printed on it. It has a very strong floral scent.
The Floral notes revolve around parma violet, gentle wild Hawthorne, cassis and Bulgarian rose. Its powdery notes are composed of voluptuous vanilla, white musk and opoponax and a gentle woody touch. This one fragrance I can say is my signature scent. I feel it represents me perfectly.
5.) Elizabeth Arden Splendor
This perfume is the cheapest perfume in my collection and you can get 125mLs for less than $50. Being so cheap, it makes this a very common perfume and you wont be able to stand out in the crowd wearing this. The reason this is still so close to my heart is because this was my first perfume and the smell takes me back to my childhood. The good thing about this perfume is that it is EDP and $50 for EDP is not bad. The bottle is a basic tower style with a dome cap that looks very romantic.
Elizabeth Arden Splendor was released in 1998 by beauty and skin care brand – Elizabeth Arden Inc. This lovely perfume has a very fresh powdery rose scent with old world charm. It truly is a classic. It could be something your grandma would wear, but that doesn’t deter me.
The top notes are pineapple, wisteria, freesia, peony, hyaclith, apple, sweet pea and bergamot. Middle notes are magnolia, tea rose, lily, poppy, orchid, jasmine, lily of the valley and rose. Base notes are sandalwood, amber, dark woodsy notes, musk, cedar and Brazilian rose wood.
Well that was my top 5 perfumes for you. Do let me know what your picks are. If you have any of these, I would love to hear what you think!
