Who doesn’t want amazing hair?! The truth is that it takes a lot of TLC to get your mane looking and feeling healthy. I for one had been blessed with great hair as a child, but as I grew older, I started to take it for granted and well…it’s not what it once was. I have tried many things to get my hair bangin” again and these are some things that have worked for me to get the best hair of my LIFE!
1.) Exfoliating your Scalp
Yes, it’s a thing! And it’s just as important to exfoliate your scalp as it is to do so for your skin. The amount of product we use in our hair causes a lot of build-up at the roots. This hinders hair growth. The best way to exfoliate your scalp is to take your hairbrush, separate your hair in parts and rub the brush on your scalp in a circular motion. Do this all over your head. It is kind of like teasing your hair, but the objective is not to get your hair tangled. You just want to gently scrape and massage the dead cells off your scalp so that the next hair care step will give the best results.
2.) Hot Oil Massage
Hot Oils penetrate better than room temperature oils, but be sure not to burn yourself! The best way to heat oil is in the microwave for a few seconds and do a patch test. Now there are some great oils out there for hair but the one I like to use is Pure Fiji Exotic Bath and Body Oil.
I use this stuff for everything! – Bath Oil, Body oil, hair oil, in scrubs and even face oil sometimes. It is really an all-rounder product- which is why I love it so much! Apart from containing Coconut oil, this product has macadamia nut oil, Dilo nut oil, and Sekeci Nut oil as well as Vitamin E! So you get so much more when compared to using regular coconut oil. It also comes in amazing tropical fragrances, but my favorite is Pineapple.
I massage this oil from the roots to the ends and leave it in for as long as I can. The plus? Smells Great!
3.) Shampoo and Conditioner
Everyone’s hair needs are different, which is why we need different things from our shampoos. From Color Management to volume and frizz management, you need to pick whichever one suits you. For me, anything other than Head and Shoulders gives me crazy dry scalp. I have been using Head and shoulders ever since I was a kid, and I don’t even have dandruff!
4.) Hair Mask
I only just recently included a hair mask into my hair care routine. I stumbled upon the $2 Keratin hair mask from Kmart and there has been no looking back. Mad for Keratin Hair Treatment is liquid gold and the best part is it’s $2! This is the kinda thing that gives you immediate results. My hair feels so smooth and shiny and hydrated straight after using this. ( I don’t usually condition if I am going to use a hair mask)
5.) No to Heat
I never ever heat style or blow dry my hair. I am blessed because I have naturally straight hair which does not require too much effort so it’s not so bad. Heat is so bad for your hair, especially when you are trying to get it to grow healthier. I dry my hair with a T-shirt Fabric Cloth (No Towels Please) and let it air dry. Best habit ever!
6.) Leave-In Treatment
As your hair dries, it loses its moisture and luster. You want to lock it in before everything evaporates. This is where the leave-in treatment comes in. Schwarzkopf makes some of the best leave-in products for your hair. I use 6 Miracles Oil Essence. This is a heat protectant, repairs, reduces split ends, conditions, controls frizz and makes your hair shiny. So pretty much everything right!? It’s for all hair types really. The great part is that it looks like oil, it feels like oil but it doesn’t weigh your hair down like oil. You best apply it on towel dry hair.
Apart from these 6 steps, I never color my hair, get a regular trim and change my pillowcase every week. These little things really help you achieve the best hair of your life!
So lovelies that was it. Do let me know in the comments box below if you have tried any of these products and what you thought about them.
